Principles

Do not inherit the old way

Tradition is often a shortcut that got repeated until it looked like law.

How I use it

I keep a procedure when it earns its keep. I do not keep it because it is old, or because a school or a vendor drew the box. Fresh eyes are a feature when the job has no known procedure. Old eyes are a feature when the procedure is the thing that keeps people safe. The test is the goal, not the pedigree.

What I refuse

We have always done it this way. Copy the incumbent and improve it ten percent.
