Radical clean over a premature flip to sell
Signal
Live vendor fallbacks still reached accounts we no longer operate after keys were “removed.”
Wrong turn
Keep dormant vendor code “just in case” and trust vault deletion alone.
Correction
Delete what we do not run. Empty the wrong env. Prove no live reach. Foundation before outreach.
We held foundation-first when the faster recommendation was to flip to sell. The reason was simple: a partial sever is not a sever. Code paths that fall back to environment secrets can still authenticate against the wrong world.
The prune was large and deliberate — lines removed, secrets deleted, data that was not ours cleared. The learning is permanent: verify the whole cord, not the last place you unplugged.
This card is public because honesty about wrong turns is the portfolio, not a liability. A serious operator admits the near-miss and shows the clean cut.
