Open cost is the bar, not a slogan
Signal
Enterprise-grade tools are usually priced like rent on the customer, not like the bill to run them.
Wrong turn
Build another SaaS gouge layer and call efficiency a marketing claim.
Correction
Charge approximately what it costs to run. Publish usage. Prove efficiency so ordinary operators can afford fort-knox tooling.
The factory exists so tools can be honest about cost. If infrastructure for a workspace is roughly six dollars and the fixed share is roughly twelve, the price has to live near that world — not near a competitor’s inflated seat chart.
Open cost is both pricing and engineering. Every paid path (storage, delivery, email) should be attributable. If we cannot show the bill, we do not get to claim the doctrine.
This LOCK is the filter for new tools: would a smart owner feel the savings flow down the line to them, or up a vendor stack?
